Job description

Medical Assistant Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our small but mighty private family medicine practice in Wall, NJ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the practice. You will support the 2 doctors, PA, and our wonderful patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

We are looking for both full time and part time candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examination by taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
  • Assisting Physicians: Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Specimen Collection: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
  • Wound Care: Perform wound care and dressing changes as needed.
  • Equipment Sterilization: Sterilize medical instruments and ensure exam rooms are clean and well-stocked.

Administrative Duties:

  • Patient Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
  • Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records and documentation.
  • Insurance Processing: Verify patient insurance information and process insurance claims.
  • Billing and Coding: Assist with medical billing and coding for insurance purposes.
  • Patient Communication: Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to the appropriate staff.
  • Inventory Management: Order and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a family medicine or primary care setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems. (Experience with Athena a plus!)
    • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Working Hours:

  • Full-Time:ย 36-40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday 10:30AM-7:00PM
