CAS is seeking a Family Advocacy Treatment Manager (FATM) to serve as a clinical subject matter expert (SME) within the installation’s Family Advocacy Program (FAP). The FATM provides clinical assessment, treatment, case management, prevention, and intervention services to individuals and families affected by or at risk for family maltreatment.
This position is a key member of the multidisciplinary FAP team and provides clinical services to children, adults, couples, families, and groups while supporting the overall health, safety, and well-being of military families.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a clinical SME and member of the multidisciplinary FAP team.
- Assess and provide clinical treatment to individuals, couples, families, and groups involved in suspected or confirmed maltreatment cases.
- Conduct psychosocial, safety, risk, needs, and other clinical assessments as appropriate.
- Provide psychotherapy, clinical casework, psychoeducational interventions, crisis intervention, and other evidence-based services.
- Manage assigned cases, including assessment, treatment and safety planning, care coordination, advocacy, monitoring, and follow-up.
- Participate in Clinical Case Staffing (CCS), Family Advocacy Committee (FAC), peer review, and other required program meetings.
- Provide prevention services through education, counseling, briefings, advocacy, community engagement, and outreach.
- Support the New Parent Support Program (NPSP) through voluntary, primarily home-based clinical intervention with families at risk for maltreatment.
- Provide Family Advocacy Strength-Based Therapy (FAST) to individuals, families, and groups at risk for maltreatment.
- Conduct required home visits involving maltreatment allegations when a child under one year of age resides in the home, as well as additional travel in support of NPSP and prevention services.
- Collaborate with military and civilian professionals, community agencies, and other organizations providing support and counseling services to children and families.
- Maintain compliance with Medical Group (MDG) standards of care, FAP policies, clinical requirements, and applicable privileging standards.
- Participate in clinical peer review and quality assurance activities.
- Support approved community education, briefings, and outreach activities in coordination with the FAP Manager (FAPM), Public Affairs, and other appropriate installation personnel.
- Maintain appropriate coordination with the FAPM and installation Judge Advocate General (JAG) regarding community partnerships and external engagements.
- Must be a U.S.-licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or U.S.-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- LCSW: Degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited program.
- LMFT: Degree from a COAMFTE-accredited program or qualifying allied mental health degree with an equivalent Marriage and Family Therapy program meeting AAMFT standards.
- Current, unrestricted license to independently practice clinical social work or marriage and family therapy in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Must be eligible for and maintain clinical privileges at the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
- Must have practiced in the applicable specialty within the past two (2) years to obtain and maintain MTF privileging.
- Minimum two (2) years of full-time post-licensure experience within the past three (3) years providing professional clinical counseling services to individuals and families affected by or at risk for abuse or maltreatment.
- Experience facilitating or co-leading group therapy.
- Experience working with children, families, and groups in clinical or community-based settings.
- Experience working with professionals and community agencies providing counseling, support, and intervention services to children and families.
- Maintain current certification in either the American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS) (Course C) or the American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/BLS (Heart Saver) Course
- Experience working within a military Family Advocacy Program (FAP).
- Experience with child or partner maltreatment assessment and intervention.
- Experience providing home-based clinical services.
- Experience with NPSP, FAST, or similar prevention and intervention programs.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary clinical teams.
