Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting Liesfeld Contractor in the search for an Assistant Controller to join its growing team.
About the Company:
Liesfeld Contractor is a heavy civil and site development construction company based in Rockville, Virginia. Founded in 1972, they specialize in turnkey site preparation, mass grading, utility installation, paving, and infrastructure construction for commercial, industrial, data center, mining, and public-sector projects across the Mid-Atlantic.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller and CFO with the company's accounting operations, including month-end close, construction job-cost accounting, Work-in-Progress reporting, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls. This position is part of an expanding accounting department where responsibilities may evolve as the company grows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare month-end close entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Manage bank reconciliations, vendor setup, and internal accounting controls
  • Support construction job-cost accounting, WIP reporting, and contract setup
  • Maintain fixed-asset records and prepare audit-ready documentation
  • Coordinate with project management, accounts payable, and operations teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience including month-end close and reconciliations
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Construction accounting and/or job cost accounting experience preferred
