Job description

Summary:

Sun Sentinel, a subsidiary of Tribune Publishing, is hiring two part-time packagers to work in our warehouse!

This is a day shift from 6:30am-3pm +/-.

What you will do:

  • Properly position equipment in the tying line

  • Change tyer strap and retread strap break

  • Enter and change zone ID numbers on the ink jet

  • Set correct bundle count, number of cuts, and rotation selection on the stacker

  • Produce correct odds as required; and inspect the contents for the inserted package to ensure the package is complete and accurate with the correct bundle identification code being applied to the kraft wrapper

  • Place correct product in the insert hopper

  • Maintain a feeding pace that is sufficient to maintain an uninterrupted operation at the inserter

  • Repair missed or doubled inserts in an efficient and timely manner

  • Change kraft wrap on bottom wrappers and fix minor jams

What you will bring:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a newspaper, warehouse, or factory packaging environment is preferred

  • Open schedule flexibility

  • Ability to stand for long hours (minimum of 2 hours)

  • Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs
