We are seeking a driven Factory Automation Engineer to join our Smart Factory division and play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting factory automation systems across manufacturing sites in the U.S. This role will directly contribute to SK’s digital transformation initiatives by optimizing production efficiency and ensuring reliable operations.

???? Key Responsibilities

Automation System Design & Integration

  • Develop, configure, and optimize PLC, SCADA, HMI, and MES/EAP automation systems.
  • Integrate automation equipment with IT/OT infrastructure and enterprise systems.
  • Design and document automation workflows, control logic, and system interfaces.

Implementation & Commissioning

  • Install, test, and commission automation hardware/software at manufacturing sites.
  • Provide technical support during system go-live and post-deployment stabilization.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance and lifecycle management of automation systems.

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Diagnose and resolve system issues, equipment malfunctions, or integration failures.
  • Provide on-call and emergency support as required, including off-hours.
  • Collaborate with client teams to ensure system uptime and operational continuity.

Process Optimization & Compliance

  • Identify opportunities for automation improvements to reduce downtime and increase throughput.
  • Support Industry 4.0 initiatives, digital twin projects, and smart factory enhancements.
  • Ensure systems comply with safety, quality, and industry regulatory standards.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work with management, users, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, test plans, and system changes.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to operators and engineering teams.


???? Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in factory automation, industrial control systems, or smart manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or similar).
  • Familiarity with MES/EAP, SCADA, HMI, and OPC-UA protocols.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of automation design, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming for automation (e.g., Python, C#, SQL).
  • Knowledge of robotics, industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet), and sensor integration.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration ability.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
