Chelsea Piers Fitness is seeking to hire an Operations Manager to join our Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for all facility operations, and you will be the "go-to" person at your assigned club. You will be successful by multi-tasking, while being the driving force towards successful solutions. This will be accomplished by multi-faceted excellence in your four main areas of responsibility:

Qualifications

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Facility Maintenance & Operations:

  • Set and uphold "like-new" facility standards, ensuring consistency and accountability across shifts and teams.
  • Ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and operating at the highest level of member experience.
  • Be the first point of escalation for crisis/issue-management.
  • Manage and oversee the proper operation and maintenance of all sports and fitness equipment.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements within your club.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Events teams to ensure all event operations run smoothly.
  • Manage and oversee the proper operation and maintenance of principal building systems and mechanical equipment (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, pool, cold plunges, spa, steam, sauna, etc.)
  • Available to supervise work during nights and weekends as needed, requested, or required.

Financial Discipline & Business Operations:

  • Operate with a sense of urgency to correct issues that impact our member experience.
  • Own and manage annual operating and project budgets with a high level of financial discipline.
  • Proactively adjust spending to align with business needs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to approved vendor relationships and procurement standards.
  • Contribute to long-term maintenance forecasting and lifecycle planning.
  • Maintain strong operational oversight of opening/closing standards and day-to-day execution.

Security, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and evaluate service contracts, ensuring pricing integrity and service excellence.
  • Maintain and continuously improve Emergency Action Plans and related training programs.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the facility.
  • Ensure certifications and compliance documentation remain current and audit ready (ie. Certified Pool Operator (CPO), FDNY F-03, OSHA-10 and CPR/AED/First-Aid certificates)
  • Serve as on-call leadership for emergency coordination and resolution.

Management of Lifeguard Team:

  • Post lifeguard schedule on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Complete lifeguard payroll on a weekly basis
  • Communicate via Prospr with Lifeguards.
  • Oversee opening/closing of pool and manage the opening/closing shift schedule & responsibilities.
  • Oversee all Lifeguards in their daily duties.
  • Hire, train, and conduct regular performance reviews for all direct reports
  • Coordinate with Lifeguard Supervisor to ensure task list is scheduled effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist with and/or manage weekly meetings of Staff to discuss all upcoming and ongoing issues, projects, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, or engineering
  • Understanding of business management, financial, and leadership principles
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
  • Time and project management skills.
  • Ability to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups, problem solve to identify and resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of and experience managing mechanical (MEP) systems. Ability to read drawings.
  • Experience managing small to medium-sized multi-trade projects.
  • On call 24/7 for the coordination and resolution of emergency situations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 to 65 pounds.

PREFERNCES

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
  • Experience working in a luxury retail environment or industrial facility.
  • Knowledge of pool operation and maintenance preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience, preferred.
