JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Under the direction of the Director, Maintenance Control & Facility Operations, the Facility Manager leads the overall operation and maintenance of the zones assigned.
  • Ensures that all codes, standards, and university guidelines are followed.
  • Is responsible for developing and/or continued management of the zones' maintenance and operation programs.
  • Is responsible for the implementation of operational strategies which includes the use of in-house trades and mechanics, maintenance service contracts, and task contracted vendors.
  • Oversees maintenance mechanic and specific trades work including providing input to planning for campus growth and capital renewal.
  • Works in collaboration with Campus Services' various departments for additional support when required.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with the clients in their assigned zones to ensure that alterations, renovations, and new construction of all facilities meet the short- and long-range plans for Emory University.
  • Assists with Facility Management's planning and emergency response for critical and hazardous weather events.
  • Plans, administers, and monitors associated budgets.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates maintenance staff.
  • Conducts routine customer stakeholder meetings to determine service level performance goals are being met. 
  • Performs related responsibilities and duties as required. 
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, facilities management, or related field and eight years of general building / facilities maintenance experience, which includes five years of supervisory experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  •  Additional relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  •  Knowledge of building trade operations, building automated systems, HVAC systems, chiller and boiler operations, emergency generator and auto transfer switch service, grounds keeping, construction, current maintenance practices, and work control methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of various computer software applications, input and extraction of data, use of spreadsheet and report writing programs, which includes ability to produce and interpret key performance indicator (KPI) reports.
  • Experience in developing budgets and cost estimating.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • A valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop and twist.
