What are Facility Interns?

Facility Interns are entry-level professionals who assist with the daily operations and maintenance of a facility, such as an office building, school, hospital, or manufacturing plant. Their responsibilities typically include supporting the facilities management team with tasks like inspections, equipment checks, inventory tracking, and coordinating minor repairs or projects. What types of projects or tasks can a Facility Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Facility Intern, you can expect to assist with a range of tasks, including supporting routine maintenance, conducting facility inspections, and helping coordinate repairs or upgrades. You may work closely with facility managers, vendors, and other departments to ensure the building's operations run smoothly. Interns often gain hands-on experience with safety protocols, preventive maintenance schedules, and inventory management. This role provides valuable exposure to facility operations and can be a strong foundation for advancing into facility management roles in the future.

The pay can vary based on location, industry, and the intern's experience level, but $30 per hour generally reflects a competitive rate for an internship in this field. It's important to consider the internship's responsibilities, hours, and benefits alongside the pay.

The highest paying internships are typically in fields like finance, technology, and engineering, with some offering annual stipends exceeding $10,000 or hourly wages over $30. Competitive internships often require relevant skills, certifications, or prior experience, and may include additional benefits such as housing or transportation stipends.
