Job description

The Facility Associate has an important “hands on” role in the successful functioning of the Hunter Museum Campus and is responsible for assisting in the operation of all facilities including but not limited to performing daily facility maintenance projects, assisting in the management of outdoor landscaping of museum campus, working with the facilities team to maintain a problem free work environment, ensuring that the museum is in compliance with applicable local, state and federal codes, regulations and standards pertaining to operations. This position assists with the museum operations and objectives of the Maintenance/Facilities department, assists the Special Events department in executing rental events, works with the coordination of various other departments, as well as ensures proper preservation of all museum equipment through the implementation of accepted safety procedures to safeguard staff, visitors and museum property.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the maintenance and general cleaning of the buildings, grounds and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security systems, emergency generators, roofs, exterior lighting, parking lot area, exterior paint, pest management, trees/landscaping, windows and bollards.
  2. Complete daily inspections of museum campus, as well as maintenance and repairs as needed. Report to the Facility Manager and Facility Assistant Manager on inspections and maintenance tasks.
  3. Ensure the Café is cleaned prior to the start of the week and immediately following an event. Inspection of cleanliness made daily.
  4. Assist in the management of our recycling program.
  5. Must be able to manage work orders, housekeeping checklists and other facility assignments.
  6. Maintain a professional relationship with vendors and contractors.
  7. Work with both the Facility Manager and Facility Assistant Manager in adhering to the annual facility/maintenance budget.
  8. Work with various other departments to assist with both internal and external events.
  9. Assist with opening and closing of museum as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school completion or equivalent preferred. Some college is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years progressively responsible experience in related field.
  • Documented knowledge of the trade (facilities, maintenance, safety, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead through example and positive attitude.
  • Good communication skills that ensure effective and positive communication.
  • Knowledge and experience in the many phases of facility operations.
  • Experience using tools and performing general repairs and maintenance.
  • Good computer skills including technology, audio visual, Microsoft Office, and iPads.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, standing, squatting, crouching, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing (ladders), reaching above the shoulders and lifting up to 80lbs. Transporting of moderately heavy objects such as furniture, file cabinets, equipment, boxes, etc. will be required.

Part-time, hourly ($15.75/hour); Up to 25 hours/week, must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and be on-call after hours to respond to emergency situations
