Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Advanced Communications Facility Engineer to join our team of skilled professionals.


In this role, you will lead the planning, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of telecommunications infrastructure, facility systems, and supporting equipment. Responsibilities include evaluating operational processes, resource requirements, system performance, safety, and facility layouts to identify and implement improvements.


The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project management skills, and knowledge of applicable facility and structural standards. This position requires the ability to evaluate critical infrastructure, develop and implement utility and facility plans, improve operational efficiency and ensure systems meet performance, safety and mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities
 
The Communications Facility Engineer Advanced will:
  • Assist the Corporate Program Manager and On-Site Project Manager with program reporting, team status updates, hiring activities, and other assigned tasks
  • Gather and analyze technical data, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and reports to support facility projects and operational requirements 
  • Determine facility, infrastructure, and equipment requirements and specifications 
  • Analyze project costs, develop estimates, and support budget preparation and resource planning 
  • Design and oversee facility expansions, layouts, infrastructure systems, and quality control activities
  • Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Develop implementation plans and optimize resource allocation to support project and operational objectives 
  • Plan and coordinate infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and related activities
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing construction, installation, and maintenance activities 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations, building codes, safety requirements, and quality standards 
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and compliance records

Skills and Experience
 
The Communications Facility Engineer Advanced must have:
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering, telecommunications, facilities, or infrastructure experience 
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office application 
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, facility infrastructure, and construction principles
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations, building codes, and health and safety requirements
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills 
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with government customers, project managers, contractors, technical teams, and other stakeholders
Education and Certifications
 
The Communications Facility Engineer Advanced must meet the following:
 
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related work experience in lieu of education
  • Minimum of 20 hours annually/required to maintain certificates if required

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
