Job description

Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies’ core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.

This role is part of our Hypersonics and Strategic Missile Defense business, which designs, develops, and delivers highly dependable missile systems for hypersonic and strategic missile defense missions. We provide integrated, mission-ready hardware that brings together multiple technologies into unified systems engineered to perform in demanding operational environments. Our tip-to-tail capabilities include payload protection and deployment systems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic interstage systems, separation systems, missile subsystems, shroud systems, launch systems, and payload integration solutions.

In this role, you will oversee the appearance, care, and maintenance of the full facility, including buildings, grounds, and critical infrastructure systems. You will identify maintenance needs, coordinate projects, and work closely with technicians to ensure the facility remains safe, reliable, and operational. Your work will support efficient daily operations and strengthen the physical environment that enables engineering and production success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees maintenance and appearance of buildings and grounds, including interior systems, exterior walls and roof, parking areas, and landscaping.
  • Ensures cleanliness, appearance, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinkler, security, and other building systems.
  • Leads facility maintenance technicians and coordinates daily activities and project work.
  • Performs facility maintenance, repair, and upkeep tasks as needed.
  • Identifies maintenance projects and drives them to completion with other technicians.
  • Operates hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Works in accordance with company safety policies and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains strong attention to detail and adapts to changing priorities.
  • Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with contractors.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in facilities and building maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • A current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional heavy lifting, outdoor work, climbing ladders, using power tools, and operating machinery.
    The essential functions of this position must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
