We are looking for a:

Operator Technician (7:00am-3:30pm)

We  are Faber-Castell Cosmetics, a division of Faber-Castell (you know us  for our pencils and pens). We have taken our expertise to the cosmetic  industry. We are one of the leading providers of private label cosmetic  pencils (face, eye, lip, and nail). We are almost 800 employees  worldwide with production facilities in Germany and Brazil Our clients  are well known brands in cosmetics and we are bringing our  state-of-the-art facilities, process, and knowledge to Elgin, IL.   • In this role, you will take ownership of your work and outcomes by operating your equipment to safety and quality standards.
  • Work on machines that produce our cosmetic pencils, stamps them, and/or packages them (clean room environment).
  • Ensure equipment is maintained properly and handle any troubleshooting.
  • Your  attention to detail will be useful while conducting in-process quality  checks you will take the necessary actions on non-compliance pieces.
  • Use  your problem-solving abilities to determine the root cause. Your  understanding of quality control and work requests will ensure our  documentation is always up to date.
Requirements

This position will be ideal for you if you:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have at least 5 years of hands-on machine operator experience
  • Able to do minor maintenance work on machines
  • Are organized
  • Are able to follow a written process
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can regularly lift, push, or move up to 50 pounds
  • Can regularly climb a ladder/steps

  • Operate equipment in accordance to safety, quality, and standard work guidelines
  • Take ownership of KPIs and process, drive improvement within, and coordinate activities within/across line teams
  • Conduct in-process quality checks
  • Take necessary actions for non-compliance
  • Complete root cause problem solving and action planning as required
  • Conduct daily autonomous maintenance (AM) activities
  • Conduct systematic troubleshooting and basic maintenance on assemble line to maximize up-time
  • Document work request to facilitate short and medium range maintenance plans
  • Maintain and document work in-progress and completed
  • Complete all documents as required
  • (setting up of machine, changing work process)
  • Other duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing with hands-on mechanical positions, or a combination of experience with education.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of basic Lean principles and tools including 5S, Standard Work, and AM Steps 1-3
  • Able to follow written processes
  • Basic equipment/mechanical troubleshooting knowledge
