Qualifications
  • B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related scientific field strongly preferred.
  • 5-7 years overall work experience in an engineering role (internships/co-ops may count).
  • Knowledge of aircraft certification processes and substantiation techniques.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Familiarity with aircraft mechanical/structural design processes, materials, fabrication methods, and aerospace hardware.
  • Organized, effective individual contributor with strong communication skills and professional presence.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of aircraft interiors.
  • Experience as a certification engineer, design engineer, or substantiation engineer.
Responsibilities
  • Develop certification plans, compliance checklists, and conformity inspection plans.
  • Prepare substantiation reports and test plans/reports for flammability and cabin safety.
  • Draft certification presentations for meetings and manage small STC/PMA projects, including supplier data deliverables and responses to inquiries or certification concerns.
  • Identify applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed major design changes.
  • Support regulatory relationships with FAA agencies via project presentations.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders regarding certification of modification projects.
