Position Specific Description
FPLES is seeking a Technical Engineering Manager to lead engineering execution across our Salesforce-centric operational systems supporting 2.5M customers. This individual will serve as the senior technical leader responsible for driving high-quality development, ensuring technical integrations across Salesforce, SAP, AWS, and custom applications, and leading both internal and offshore development teams.
This role is the primary point of accountability for technical delivery, including solution design, development standards, code quality, SIT readiness, and cross-system integration integrity.
This role will also support the IT Director in maturing the IT organization, improving engineering processes, and helping elevate team performance, but engineering execution remains the number one priority.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Execution & Delivery
  • Lead and manage all engineering resources (internal, contract, and offshore) across Salesforce, SAP integration, AWS, and custom-built platforms.
  • Own delivery across sprints, releases, projects, enhancements, and production fixes.
  • Break down technical work, estimate complexity, assign tasks, and enforce engineering accountability.
  • Oversee code quality through code reviews, standards enforcement, and mentorship.
  • Provide hands-on guidance for troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Ensure timely, reliable delivery of new development and ongoing system enhancements.

2. Technical Architecture & Solution Design
  • Serve as the technical design authority across Salesforce and integrated enterprise systems.
  • Own system architecture documents, technical designs, API/interface patterns, and integration frameworks.
  • Drive consistency across domain-specific technical managers (Salesforce, SAP, AWS, etc.).
  • Validate integration flows between Salesforce ↔ SAP ↔ AWS ↔ homegrown apps.
  • Approve technical solutions before development begins and prior to SIT.

3. Quality, Testing, & Release Readiness
  • Ensure SIT readiness, including test data, integration setup, and technical environment availability.
  • Support QA and SIT teams by ensuring interfaces and technical dependencies are functional.
  • Own resolution of SIT and UAT technical defects across all systems.
  • Partner with DevOps/Release Management to improve CI/CD, deployments, and environment reliability.
  • Drive reduction in production incidents through improved engineering discipline.

4. Cross-Team Technical Leadership
  • Provide daily technical direction to developers, technical managers, offshore pods, and platform specialists.
  • Partner with Product, Business Analysts, and the Director to evaluate technical feasibility.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for major production issues.

5. IT Organizational Support
  • Support the Director in implementing a more structured engineering organization.
  • Help define engineering processes such as:
    • Coding standards
    • Architecture review practices
    • SIT/UAT readiness criteria
    • Release management processes
    • Documentation standards
  • Provide input on team structure, roles, skill development, and staffing needs.
  • Help improve governance, intake, prioritization, change management, and operational maturity.

Required Technical Skills
Salesforce Core Skills (Must-Have)
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of:
    • Apex (Classes, Triggers, Test Classes)
    • Lightning Web Components (LWC)
    • Flows, Process Automation, and Orchestration
    • SOQL/SOSL and performance optimization
    • Salesforce Data Model & Object Relationships
    • Platform security (profiles, roles, sharing model)
    • Java
  • Experience with Service Cloud and customer-facing processes.

Salesforce Integration Expertise
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting integrations using:
    • REST/SOAP APIs
    • Platform Events
    • Change Data Capture (CDC)
    • Middleware (Mulesoft, SAP PO/PI, Boomi, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of synchronous vs. asynchronous patterns.

SAP & Enterprise Integration Skills
  • Experience with Salesforce ↔ SAP integrations using:
    • IDocs
    • BAPIs
    • OData
    • API-based integrations
    • Middleware mapping & transformations
  • Understanding of SAP functional modules related to customer operations.

Required Leadership Skills
  • Strong technical leadership and ability to drive engineering execution.
  • Experience managing mixed teams (internal staff, contractors, offshore).
  • Excellent communication skills-able to explain technical concepts to non-technical leaders.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment.
