Position overview:
DLS Engineering is seeking a System Administrator II (Big IP F5) professional for a full-time position in support of the Air Force Intranet Control (AFINC) program at Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama. This is an on-site position.
As part of AFINC, the mission of the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) is to provide mission assurance to the warfighter through the operation, management, and defense of the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN). In the execution of its mission, the 26 NOS maintains network infrastructure, to include routers, switches, proxies, firewalls, servers, workstations, printers, Storage Area Networks (SAN) and test labs, to provide maneuverability and defense of both classified and unclassified networks.
A day in the life:
  • Operate, maintain, monitor F5 appliances, configurations, identify BIG-IP Traffic Processing Objects, and analyze overall health and effectiveness of multiple Big IP F5 instances.
  • Manage application integration designs around application logic and authentication configuration (session management, application redirects, rewrites, migration scenarios, app routing, CAC/PIV authentication).
  • Support, troubleshoot and configure SSL intercept/inspection, web certificates, certificate management, PKI Certificate Authority (CA) bundles, private/public keys.
  • Install, configure, and administer Big IP F5 Platform Suite referencing Web Applications with Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and Access Policy Manger (APM) services.
  • Install and patch Big IP F5 systems, and document DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) checklists.
  • Design and administrator load balancing strategies/ techniques, in application switching / traffic management, knowledge of persistence and SSL certificates.
  • Create and maintain documentation detailing architecture components, configurations, monitoring & alerting setup, troubleshooting guides, and checklists.

  • 5+ years of professional experience with Big IP F5 products performing systems administration, including installations, configurations, monitoring system performance and availability, upgrades, troubleshooting, and certificate management.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • IAT-II Certification (required)
  • At least 1 of the following three certifications: F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5-CTS) - Local Traffic Manager (LTM) OR F5-CTS- Access Policy Manager (APM) OR F5 BIG-IP Certified Administrator
