Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  

  • Correctly performs DOT & PM Inspections on trailers 

  • All trailer preventative maintenance and repair 

  • Tags all warranty parts with appropriate information to include cause of failure, mileage and removal date 

  • Responsible for the cleanliness of work area, keeping spills, grease and debris to a minimum

  • Completes all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit

  • Basic computer skills to input vehicle information and diagnose equipment 

  • Basic tools required 

  • Trailer electrical work  

  • Tests equipment for proper operations 

  • Fix and repair tires, as necessary 

  • Welding and fabrication of steel and aluminum, as necessary 

  • Keeps work areas clean and free of clutter

  • Must have current valid driver's license

  • Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience One year certificate from college or technical school; ASE Diesel Certification, or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • 1 year experience as a Diesel Mechanic
  • Valid CDL License
  • ASE Diesel Certification an asset
