Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for leading field and shop operations to achieve gross profit plans through effective execution of project work. Additionally, owns final responsibility for all division trade related work in both the field and the fabrication facilities.
Position Details
  • Must maintain a strong working relationship with local unions which includes developing rapport with leadership of each area's unions. Keeps current with all union contract changes and work with management to resolve any escalated issues.
  • Works closely with other division Field Operations leaders to learn best practices, (includes expertise and means/methods) and to assure all company field personnel are used effectively across all divisions. This also includes close peer-to-peer relationships and company-wide meeting participation.
  • Negotiates favorable trade concession and project agreements for specific targeted projects during the procurement phase and beyond.
  • Works with field leadership to develop project specific construction planning techniques.
  • Actively participates in developing "Must Win" strategies for project pursuits; this includes estimate reviews, fabrication strategies, labor productivity rates, crew ratios, constructability plans, and field execution planning.
  • Monitors new products and advise management when appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent education, training and experience
  • Continuing education in the area of management and business preferred
  • 10+ years in MEP trade management (preference to electrical) and managing profitable projects with a proven ability to improve margin on the project
  • Computer proficiency, capable of operating MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and Project
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction of the MEP industry
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
