Bowman has an opportunity for a Regional Operations Manager, Survey to join our team in any one of our Texas locations (Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Waco).

Purpose

Oversee the operations of the Regional land surveying program in the areas of land development, energy, transportation, government contracting, mining and other markets. Work as part of the national survey team and oversee the OperationsCenter and Business Unit leaders within that Region.


Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.


At the Operational and Company Level

  • Focus on operational excellence. Coordinate the planning and execution of day-to-day operations.
  • Know our clients. Establish new clients and maintain healthy client relationships and possess solid operational insight for driving projects and executing deliverables.
  • Ensure financial success for the Region. Monitor and manage work-in-process, billings, and outstanding accounts receivable collection effort.
  • Act as a senior level leader for the company. Effectively communicate corporate goals, philosophy, and culture.
  • Grow the business with a multi-year planning horizon. Develop near/long-term goals and strategies for growth of the department.
  • Develop current and future talent. Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff.

Do the Work

  • Serve as the overall Survey Operations Manager for a Region in all markets/industries that we serve
  • Report to the Vice President of Survey Operations.
  • Oversee and manage Survey Operations Center and Business Unit leaders, if applicable, with respect to their assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with these leaders bi-monthly, or as required to meet business objectives.
  • Lead a Project Manager Training Program for existing and potential Project Managers.
  • Aid the leaders with staff development, collections, and any other operations issues.
  • Assist with multiyear strategic planning and yearly business planning.
  • Coordinate with the Company Safety Director when appropriate and necessary.
  • Assist with strategic initiatives such as staff development, advancement of technology, developing and implementing policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or related field preferred.
  • Ten to fifteen (10-15) years of professional experience overall, surveying experience strongly preferred.
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor, not required, but may be preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of residential and commercial construction stakeout procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of field procedures for performing boundary and ALTA/ACSM land title surveys.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of topographic surveys, road frontage cross-section surveys and as-built surveys.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of total station and data collection, with the ability to promote new equipment and technologies.
  • Familiarity with GPS technology and various software packages.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing the financial, marketing, human resources, and operational aspects of a survey department.
