Job Summary


The Operations Assistant Manager at Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the movement, distribution, and storage of materials, ensuring the efficient flow of incoming and outgoing materials to guarantee timely delivery to stores and vendors. This role also encompasses the management of transportation logistics, vehicles, equipment, and strategic planning for warehouse operations, all while prioritizing safety and operational efficiency in the absence of the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities


The following duties are representative of the essential functions of this position. Additional duties may be assigned as operational needs require.

Logistics and Transportation Management

  • Ensure all drivers for contracts and transportation adhere to schedules based on contract and store needs.
  • Manage driver times and schedules.
  • Print and distribute house calls.
  • Log daily driver inspection sheets.
  • Log daily forklift inspection sheets.
  • Maintain current inspections on all vehicles, equipment, and trailers.
  • Schedule estimates for vehicle and trailer repairs.
  • Notify the Director of Operations of any necessary repairs on trailers or vehicles.
  • Maintain a log of all fuel and purchase receipts, submitting them to accounting in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the Aftermarket Manager to ensure proper transportation needs are met.
  • Ensure daily vehicle inspections are completed.

Warehouse and Inventory Management

  • Maintain and project all warehouse space.
  • Keep a bale log and notify the Aftermarket Manager when the count reaches a saleable quantity.
  • Communicate operational needs, such as the purchase of gaylords and pallets, to the Director of Operations.
  • Complete purchase orders as needed.

Employee Management & Safety

  • Ensure that employees adhere to their scheduled hours and do not work before or after.
  • Be task-driven with safety as a top priority.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Duties


This position carries supervisory responsibilities. The Operations Assistant Manager is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned staff, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
