POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss'Solar Assistant Electrical Project Managerwill play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of solar projects through effective engineering, procurement, and materials management. Your responsibilities will encompass being on a dedicated team, overseeing project schedules, and managing the procurement process from start to finish.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work hand-in-hand with Electrical Self-Perform and Procurement to ensure success as it relates to safety, design, quality, schedule, and budget

  • Manage the warehousing process including lease, security, utilities, labor, equipment, inventory, and all other operational issues; work with Accounting to perform journal entries for inventory

  • Ensure the correct material shows up at the correct site at the correct time and notify the project staffs regularly; check material against delivery tickets, update delivery log and CMiC; notify Supplier of any deficiencies

  • Key orchestrator for communication for all Electrical functions working on a project

  • Exhibit the Moss safety culture by inspiring an empowered culture that creates a healthy environment by honoring relationships through providing clear vision, process, and tools

  • Own our safety Team Agreements

  • Assist Project Management with the management of the Owner contract, including all deliverables, notices, and costs / change orders

  • Work with Project Management to create the project budget, as it relates to Electrical, and upload into CMiC, using the Estimate Summary as the basis of the budget

  • Work with Project Management on buyout of all electrical-related subcontracts, vendor agreements, professional service agreements, etc. while prioritizing schedule over cost if required

  • Assist Scheduling with creating Project Schedules; work with Scheduling to update Project Schedules

  • Review all subcontractor, vendor, and supplier payment requests and work with Accounting to ensure timely payments

  • Approve all subcontractor, vendor and miscellaneous invoices thru Workflow on a weekly basis at a minimum

  • Approve all Electrical expense reports

  • Work with Quality to manage Moss Solar's Quality Management Plan (QMP) as it relates to electrical

  • Ensure that underground locates and dig permits to prevent underground cable strikes are performed timely; work with Operations and Safety on enforcing the completion of locates and dig permits prior to any ground penetrations

  • Work with Project Management, Mechanical and Electrical to order, track, and call off all rental equipment

  • Review all Moss-owned equipment charges for accuracy

  • Procure all testing equipment, obtain and file calibration certificates, and manage a re-calibration program to ensure all equipment meets Industry Standards for calibration; coordinate with Commissioning

  • Conduct regular staff meetings with Electrical staff

  • Conduct weekly meetings with all major subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and Moss field staff

  • Help Project Management prepare for and present Project Risk Reviews (monthly)

  • Perform cost projections for Electrical Work and permanent electrical material on a bi-monthly basis

  • Participate in 30/60/90/IFC drawing reviews with a focus on lessons learned

  • Work with Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical to plan flow of work by analyzing PV module bin class layout vs. PV module delivery schedule vs. civil flow vs. circuit turnover dates

  • Coordinate PV module whip lengths with Mechanical as it relates to skip-stringing / module orientation approach; installing service loops is costly and slows production, so we must price and qualify accordingly

  • Work with Project Management & Electrical to update Self-Perform Budget Tracker (i.e., cost/actual installed to be entered by Mech/Elec and amount earned to be entered by Project Management)

  • Perform a Bill of Materials (BOM) takeoff of the entire electrical system to identify discrepancies (preferably by PEs to learn the system)

  • Assist Project Management with the project cost control process, including assigning PCI numbers in CMiC to all cost impacts

  • Assist Project Management with the construction RFI process, and work with Engineering on the preconstruction RFI process

  • Document all meetings, where necessary

  • Communicate regularly with Commissioning on schedule, manpower, and any other needs

  • Take an active role on internship recruiting as interns are the lifeline of our project teams

  • Send immediate notices to Suppliers if material is out of conformance with agreements; maintain constant communication with Supplier until issue is resolved

  • Work with Suppliers to ensure proper packaging is provided to prevent damage during storage; work with Electrical Self-Perform to provide adequate site storage and/or cover per manufacturers recommendations

  • Participate in Preconstruction meetings at the jobsite with subcontractors to include setting safety expectations, where applicable

  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field

  • 2 years of construction operations experience

  • Strong finance/Accounting knowledge

  • Emphasis on scheduling and forecasting

  • Microsoft Office

  • CMIC/Project Management software

  • Blueprints / PlanGrid - Bluebeam / Take Off Software

  • Great Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects at once
