Job description

The Exercise Physiologist under general supervision assists with performing graded exercise tolerance stress testing with and without nuclear medicine to assist in diagnostic testing. This position explains procedures to prepare patients for ECG and related tests. This position maintains statistics and files completed reports according to established procedures.

Minimum Education
 

  • Bachelor's Degree Exercise Science, Health Education, Health Leisure & Exercise Scie, Kinesiology, Public Health Required


Minimum Work Experience
 

  • 1-3 years Experience in cardiac or fitness/wellness related environment Required or
  • Completed internship in cardiac and pulmonary related setting Required


Licenses and Certifications
 

  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • EKG Technician (CET_NHA) within 2 Years Required or
  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT_CCI) within 2 Years Required

What you will do
 

  • Provides direction and oversight to those assisting/learning the exercise therapy role; i.e., new employees, exercise science or EKG students/interns.
  • Assists with Cardiac Stress Testing.
  • Performs electrocardiography (ECG) testing, and Holter monitors.
  • Monitor exercise for safety, monitor blood pressure at rest and during exercise and documents procedures according to established guidelines.
  • Performs EKG services according to established procedure of the hospital.
  • Selects and assesses portions of the test strips, interprets data or summarizes data for interpretation by medical staff.
  • Will maintain sufficient inventory to efficiently operate the EKG services.
  • Performs billing for Holter and stress testing using using hospital systems.
  • Maintains equipment by cleaning, lubricating and replacing items such as paper rolls, fuses, and bulbs. Maintains equipment.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
