Job description

Cabinet Designer / Project Engineer (AutoCAD)

We're partnering with a well-established, high-end custom cabinetry manufacturer seeking a Cabinet Designer / Project Engineer to join their close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys designing one-of-a-kind luxury kitchens and custom cabinetry—not repetitive "box kitchen" layouts. This role is ideal for someone who understands both the design and manufacturing sides of the business and enjoys seeing projects through from concept to production.

What You'll Do

  • Design custom cabinetry and millwork using AutoCAD.
  • Develop detailed production drawings and engineering documents for luxury residential cabinetry.
  • Collaborate with homeowners, interior designers, builders, architects, and the manufacturing team to bring projects to life.
  • Meet with clients in the showroom and occasionally perform field measurements.
  • Coordinate projects from initial design through manufacturing, ensuring accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Work closely with shop craftsmen to resolve design and production challenges while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changing client requests, project timelines, and design revisions.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong 2D AutoCAD experience is required.
  • Experience with Mozaik design software is preferred. Experience with Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or other cabinet design/manufacturing software will also be considered.
  • Several years of experience designing custom kitchens, cabinetry, or architectural millwork.
  • Hands-on cabinet manufacturing, woodworking, or cabinet shop experience is strongly preferred. We're looking for someone who understands how cabinetry is actually built—not just how it's drawn.
  • Strong engineering aptitude with the ability to create accurate production drawings and solve manufacturing challenges.
  • In-depth knowledge of wood species, cabinet construction methods, joinery, hardware, drawer systems, and other materials used in custom cabinetry.
  • Familiarity with appliance specifications and integration requirements for high-end residential kitchens.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and translate design intent into manufacturable shop drawings.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients while also collaborating effectively with craftsmen on the shop floor.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and evolving customer, designer, and contractor requests.
  • Experience with luxury residential cabinetry is highly preferred.

Why Join?

  • Family-oriented company with a collaborative, low-drama culture.
  • Very low employee turnover and excellent long-term stability.
  • Design truly custom, high-end residential cabinetry—not production cabinetry.
  • Financially strong company with a healthy backlog of exciting projects.
  • Opportunity for increased responsibility, project ownership, and long-term career growth.
