Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine

Greenwood Asher & Associates invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Rocky Vista University. Rocky Vista University (RVU), a nationally recognized health sciences institution, seeks an entrepreneurial and visionary leader to serve as the founding Dean of its innovative College of Veterinary Medicine. Based in Billings, Montanaโ€”one of the fastest-growing communities in the Mountain Westโ€”the Dean will establish and lead a state-of-the-art veterinary medicine program dedicated to advancing animal health, workforce development, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

The Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine will:

  • Launch and guide the growth of a new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, shaping curriculum and academic culture from the ground up
  • Recruit, develop, and empower a high-performing, collaborative team of faculty and staff committed to innovative teaching and scholarship
  • Foster a modern, inclusive learning environment leveraging advanced technology, simulation, and clinical training
  • Build strategic partnerships with veterinary practices, industry, and community stakeholders to address critical veterinary workforce needs and enhance student opportunities
  • Lead accreditation efforts and ensure graduates are prepared for licensure and practice-readiness
Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have a DVM degree from an accredited institution and either a PhD or board certification. They will also have a distinguished record as an associate or full professor at a well-regarded higher education institution and have a demonstrated record of the following:

  • Administrative leadership and strong business acumen, including experience with strategic planning and budgeting
  • Success in overseeing a complex academic organization, including management of academic, operational, and administrative elements, preferably in a College/School of Veterinary Medicine
  • Development of high-quality curriculum and academic programs, with a focus on student experience and student learning outcomes
