Job Description
Software Engineering Director exhibits a mix of technical acumen, strategy and vision, along with the ability to cultivate and grow technical talent. Responsible for designing, developing, implementing and testing a set of technical products in response to an external or internal need. Manager is an advanced technologist enabling strong coding practices and solid design decisions. Builds meaningful relationships with relevant stakeholders and effectively partners to remove organizational obstacles and guide cross-team strategic efforts. Acts as agile/product champion by enabling product teams and partnering with other leaders to drive empowerment, autonomy, engineering momentum, and business value. Fosters a culture of empowerment, engineering excellence, and growth.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- 10 or more years of relevant software engineering experience
- Six or more years of experience leading multiple software engineering teams
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Proven experience delivering software and platform capabilities within a large Financial Services organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise developer platform, DevOps, platform engineering, or Developer Experience organizations.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, cloud-native architectures, and software delivery platforms.
  • Experience with Internal Developer Portals, including Backstage or comparable developer platform technologies.
  • Experience implementing and scaling inner sourcing models and engineering community engagement.
  • Experience partnering with senior executives and influencing enterprise-wide technology strategy.
  • Strong understanding of cloud engineering and modern platform architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale organizational and technology transformation initiatives.

Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $164,390.00 - $193,400.00
