Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Secretary of the University.
This position plays a key role in supporting the governance functions of the university and the operations of the 15-member Board of Governors (BOG) and the 41-member Board of Trustees (BOT), its Emeriti members, all board committees, ad hoc committees, and task forces. Reporting to the Associate Secretary of the University, this position works closely with the Secretary and the Associate Secretary to support and coordinate the work of the BOG and BOT. The position is responsible for preparing agendas and meeting materials, recording and maintaining official minutes, drafting resolutions, overseeing meeting logistics, assisting with planning and execution of special events or meetings, and accurately maintaining the university's official historical records.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Oversees the coordination and administration of Board of Governors and Board of Trustees activities, including meeting administration, board communications, implementation of board actions, and maintenance of official records.
  • Manages administrative operations of the Office of the Secretary, including budget administration, payroll processing, purchasing activities, human resources support functions, and staff workflow coordination.
  • Conducts research, analysis, strategic projects, and executive-level reporting to support informed decision-making, university governance, and board operations.
  • Leads and provides work direction to office staff.
  • Collaborates with board members, executive leadership, and university stakeholders.
  • Assists with special initiatives, events, and commencement-related activities.
