What are executive protection services?

Executive Protection Services refer to specialized security measures designed to ensure the safety of high-profile individuals, such as corporate executives, celebrities, or political figures. These services include risk assessment, advance planning, secure transportation, and close personal protection to prevent threats like kidnapping, harassment, or physical harm. Executive Protection professionals are highly trained to handle emergency situations discreetly and efficiently, often working in both domestic and international environments. The goal is to allow clients to conduct their business or personal activities with minimal disruption and maximum safety.

Job description

Job Description

Use the people skills and problem-solving skills you developed during your law enforcement or military career in an environment with less stress and less risk. We are supported by the Global Security leadership team in Dearborn and that ensures our team is professional and well-trained -- for example, the quarterly firearms training means we can maintain firearms proficiency and get paid for it! Leverage your professional law enforcement or military experience into a rewarding second chapter at Ford.

In this position…

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Protection Specialist to join our elite protective services team. In this role, you will serve as a critical member of our global executive protection program, with primary responsibility for planning and conducting comprehensive security advances and executing protective operations for our principals at the highest level of professionalism and discretion.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned protection professional who combines tactical expertise with polished interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to service. You will have a demonstrated history of delivering discrete, world-class protective services and will thrive in dynamic, fast-paced, and often ambiguous environments — both domestically and internationally.

The successful candidate will join a team committed to operational excellence, sound judgment, and the highest levels of personal and professional integrity.

Responsibilities

What you'll do…

Protective Operations & Advance Work

  • Plan and execute security advances (site surveys, route/venue/threat assessments) for domestic and international principal movements and events
  • Develop advance reports, security plans, and contingency protocols; audit and refine plans for effectiveness
  • Provide close protection during movements and public engagements, including secure transportation with defensive/evasive driving
  • Collect and analyze threat intelligence; identify and mitigate risks to the principal
  • Coordinate logistics (travel, lodging, itineraries) and liaise with law enforcement, venue security, vendors, and cross-functional teams
  • Deliver clear briefings and reports to leadership while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Remain on-call and flexible for irregular hours/travel; operate independently under pressure with sound judgment
  • Perform duties under stressful conditions and in frequently ambiguous environments while maintaining composure and sound decision-making
  • Available on-call, including evenings/weekends/holidays
  • Able to travel domestically/internationally, often on short notice
Qualifications

You'll have…

  • 7+ years of executive protection experience, including close protection of Governors, Federal officials, or comparable high-profile principals in a law enforcement setting
  • Proven expertise in security advance planning and core protection disciplines: protective intelligence, secure transportation, advance/logistics coordination, contingency planning, and domestic/international travel security
  • Defensive/evasive driving and firearms proficiency
  • Emergency medical field care capability
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal) across all organizational levels
  • Tech-savvy, with ability to produce polished reports and presentations
  • Solid organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to solve problems and perform under high-stress, ambiguous conditions
  • Self-motivated, works independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent physical condition; capable of sustained physical exertion
  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation

Even better, you may have…

  • LEOSA / HR 218 Firearm Qualification
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic Certification

Personal Attributes of Successful Candidates

We're seeking a security professional genuinely committed to protecting others at the highest standard. Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Service-driven mindset — genuine commitment to others' safety and well-being
  • Integrity and unwavering ethical standards
  • Composure under pressure with sound, quick decision-making
  • Attention to detail and a proactive, anticipatory approach
  • Team-oriented yet decisive — collaborative, but capable of independent action when needed
  • Commitment to ongoing training and readiness

*This position is reserved for professionals of exceptional character, operational capability, and personal integrity. Only those who meet the highest standards of executive protection excellence will be considered.*

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above?
