Job description

Overview
Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility:
Provides operational leadership and oversight in the administration, direction, and implementation of physician practice management initiatives to meet diverse business/clinical needs within markets served by the Baptist. Responsibilities include but are not limited to implementation of network development and physician practice strategies, physician relations, mergers/acquisitions and other business initiatives to expand market services and capabilities, integration of systems, identification of efficiencies, financial oversight for clinic operations, and administration of operating plans/goals within defined divisional unit and/or service lines. Works in close collaboration with CEO, BMMG leadership team and other Baptist leaders to provide optimal operational support and alignment with corporate business goals/objectives for large multi-specialty provider network.
Essential Accountabilities:
  1. Operationalizes strategic direction in collaboration with CEO and BMMG Senior Leadership Team to ensure operational goals and objectives are in alignment with market/corporate initiatives for designated divisional unit/clinical service area.

  1. Provides operational oversight for BMMG to include practice management, physician and employee recruitment/retention, physician relations, contracting, compensation strategies and productivity measure so that incentives are appropriately aligned. Participates in mergers/acquisition activities and initiatives to expand BMMG operational services and capabilities within designated geographic markets within designated division.
  2. Develops, recommends, and implements the annual operating plans and programs necessary to meet strategic direction established by CEO and CFO.

  1. Works collaboratively with BMMG team to develop financially viable reimbursement methodologies for physicians. Participates, when appropriate, in the negotiation, execution and implementation of physician/provider contracts and other affiliated business arrangements.

  1. Designs, in collaboration with CFO financial goals and reporting systems evaluating utilization/standardization and/or resource management systems, work load/productivity measures, and skill mix to ensure both quality outcomes and cost efficiency for the BMMG clinic operations.

  1. Implements practice management strategies and/or services to identify appropriate business opportunities, to enhance business and/or physician partnerships/relationships, expand/retain market position, and to maximize service delivery in close coordination with direct reports as well as hospital operations.
  2. Analyzes practice managements models on a national level; develops, implements, and/or evaluates "best practices" to strengthen financial viability, support clinical/patient care initiatives within an array of practice settings, appropriately address operational issues and maintain legal compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

  1. Integrates and implements human resources policies/procedures, programs, and practices within each clinic setting working in collaboration with Corporate and BMMG Human Resources to ensure the implementation of programs which best meet the needs of both employees and management teams. Ensures legal compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.

  1. Performs other accountabilities as assigned or directed.

Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Health Care Administration or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. 8+ years progressive, out-come oriented management experience in a medium to large multi-specialty group practice with 5 years experience in all aspects of practice management and operations, contracting, and medical staff relations within divisional area of expertise.
  3. Extensive knowledge of health care issues, trends, legal compliance and group practice management/ network development models.

  1. Ability to foster collaborative partnerships in the development, implementation and administration of service and program delivery.

Physical Requirements:
Work requires little or no physical effort. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary to the job.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office environment.
