About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Director, Accounting & Advisory - Construction to lead the GMP Advisors Construction division of our client accounting and advisory team. This role will work directly with GMP's Executive Leadership team to rapidly expand our Construction advisory service line while ensuring we continue to deliver excellent results for our clients. The Director, Accounting & Advisory - Construction will be responsible for delivering outsourced CFO and controller-level advisory services to our clients, in addition to working with a team of staff accountants to manage revenue accounting processes and ensure accurate financial reporting on behalf of clients. Ideal candidates will also be enthusiastic about business development and fostering deep relationships with new and existing clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners on financial performance, cash flow, and operational strategy
  • Provide outsourced CFO-level advisory services to Construction clients, including financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic recommendations
  • Optimize accounting workflows and operational efficiencies
  • Identify and develop new client relationships; support business development and practice growth initiatives
  • Lead the monthly close process, including preparation and review of financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulatory requirements
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members
  • Maintain strict adherence to reporting deadlines and deliverables
  • Utilize and manage accounting systems, including Quickbooks, Sage, Spectrum/Viewpoint, Procore

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Master's degree and/or CMA or CPA designation preferred
  • Strong understanding of the Construction sector, including industry-specific accounting practices (Job costing, AIA billing, subcontractor billings & collections, project cash flow management)
  • Demonstrated experience with QuickBooks, Procore, Spectrum/Viewpoint, Sage softwares
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Proven experience in multi-entity environments
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Advanced financial analysis and forecasting capabilities
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Deadline-driven with strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience in or strong appetite for client advisory and business development; existing book of business or referral network a plus
