Job description

Stone Center, a family- and veteran-owned leader in natural stone supply and fabrication since 1952, is hiring a Inside Sales Representative for our Columbus, OH branch. This is a hybrid role combining front-office counter sales with hands-on yard support — you'll be the first point of contact for walk-in and phone customers while also helping pull orders, load material, and keep the yard organized. It's a great fit for someone who likes variety, doesn't mind physical work outdoors, and enjoys helping customers find what they need.

Key Responsibilities

Front Office / Counter Sales

  • Greet walk-in customers and assist with product selection, orders, and quotes at the sales counter
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to customer inquiries, and process orders and payments
  • Enter and manage orders accurately in the point-of-sale/inventory system
  • Provide product knowledge and recommendations on natural stone and hardscape materials

Yard Support

  • Pull, stage, and load customer orders, including operating a forklift when needed
  • Keep the yard organized, safe, and clean; assist with inventory counts and stock placement
  • Support delivery coordination and assist drivers with loading as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment or handling material
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience in retail, counter sales, customer service, or yard/warehouse work
  • Comfortable splitting time between an indoor sales counter and outdoor yard environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work safely around equipment and material
  • Basic computer skills for order entry and point-of-sale systems
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification or experience (training available for the right candidate)
  • Background in building materials, natural stone, hardscape, or construction supply
Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay: $23 – $25 per hour, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off and paid holidays
