As an Operations Manager at Coastal Waste & Recycling, you'll leadHauling Operations while developing Operations Supervisors, strengthening our safety culture, and ensuring exceptional service for our customers.

Your Role
As a Collections Operations Manager, you'll lead multiple collection operations while coaching and developing Operations Supervisors responsible for residential, commercial, and specialty collection services. You'll own staffing, operational performance, employee development, safety, and customer service while partnering with Dispatch, Customer Experience, Fleet Maintenance, Career Path, and other departments to ensure every route is completed safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do
  • Lead, coach, and develop Operations Supervisors while building a strong pipeline of future operational leaders.
  • Own the overall performance of your assigned collection operations, including safety, staffing, customer service, route execution, employee engagement, productivity, and financial results.
  • Develop Operations Supervisors through regular one-on-one coaching, field observations, leadership development, performance feedback, and succession planning.
  • Own the staffing strategy for your operation by partnering with Operations Supervisors and the Career Path team to recruit, hire, onboard, develop, and retain exceptional employees.
  • Champion Coastal's safety culture by ensuring Operations Supervisors consistently execute daily safety huddles, ride-alongs, coaching conversations, safety observations, and company safety initiatives across all operations.
  • Hold Operations Supervisors accountable for building engaged teams, developing employees, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, reducing turnover, and creating a culture of accountability.
  • Monitor key operational and financial metrics-including labor, overtime, productivity, route efficiency, customer service, fleet utilization, and operating costs-and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Dispatch, Customer Experience, Fleet Maintenance, Safety, Career Path, and District leadership to remove operational barriers and ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Conduct regular operational reviews, field visits, and ride-alongs to ensure consistency, reinforce company standards, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support customer retention by partnering with Operations Supervisors to resolve escalated customer concerns while ensuring contractual service commitments are met.
  • Lead through change by implementing new operational initiatives, technology, processes, and best practices across assigned operations.
  • Foster collaboration across markets by partnering with fellow Operations Managers to share resources, solve operational challenges, and ensure every customer is served safely and efficiently.
