About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Operations Manager to lead and oversee World Fuel's physical operations across Puerto Rico. Based in Carolina, this role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fuel operations while driving performance, strengthening teams, and supporting commercial growth.

You will lead site operations, partner cross-functionally, and play a key role in maintaining World Fuel's high standards in safety, service, and operational excellence.

What You'll Be Responsible ForOperational Leadership & Regional Oversight
  • Lead and manage all World Fuel operations across Puerto Rico
  • Ensure full compliance with QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security & Environmental) standards and local regulations
  • Promote a strong "one team" culture across operations, engineering, and support functions
People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop site managers, operators, and agent partners
  • Build strong relationships across teams to drive engagement and accountability
  • Provide ongoing operational, engineering, and safety guidance while maintaining a commercial mindset
  • Represent World Fuel professionally with internal and external stakeholders
Customer & Commercial Support
  • Partner with the commercial team to support customer growth and retention
  • Use technical expertise to deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions for customers
  • Ensure frontline teams consistently deliver a high standard of customer service
Financial & Cost Management
  • Identify and implement cost efficiencies and operational improvements
  • Manage site performance to stay within budget targets
Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across all sites
  • Support demand forecasting and ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Develop schedules that meet customer needs while optimizing resources
  • Monitor fuel volumes and logistics to ensure reliable supply
Governance, Safety & Compliance
  • Lead site audits and ensure compliance with JIG standards, dangerous goods regulations, and relevant legislation
  • Apply risk-based decision-making across operations
  • Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and resolved promptly
  • Uphold professional and ethical standards across all teams and third-party operators
Contingency & Project Planning
  • Maintain and test crisis management and business continuity plans
  • Support governance processes such as HAZOPs, MOCs, and safety reviews
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience in operations leadership, ideally within fuel, energy, logistics, or industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance (QHSSE)
  • Experience managing multi-site operations and teams
  • Ability to balance operational excellence with commercial priorities
  • Strong communication skills in a diverse, team-oriented environment
  • Spanish and English fluency preferred for Puerto Rico operations
