ROLE SUMMARY
The onshore Insurance Business Analyst, working Eastern Standard Time, provides day-to-day requirements development, defect analysis, and incident triage for Guidewire PolicyCenter in support of Commercial Property & Casualty admitted lines. The immediate and primary focus of this role is General Liability (GL), where an active ISO enhancement initiative has pulled the existing team away from routine support, creating a coverage gap. The BA will backfill that gap, working across two systems — Freshservice for incident triage and Azure DevOps for requirements and defect management.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary BA supporting General Liability (GL) within Guidewire PolicyCenter, the top priority for this role.
Triage incoming incidents and tickets in Freshservice, determining root cause and business impact.
Develop and manage business and functional requirements for defects and enhancements in Azure DevOps (ADO), following established SDLC processes.
Plan, facilitate, and lead requirements-gathering sessions, reviews, and stakeholder presentations to reach consensus and sign-off.
Partner closely with development and QA teams to maximize out-of-the-box PolicyCenter functionality and support issue resolution.
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test plans and scripts derived from requirements, and drive UAT sign-off with business leads and project managers.
As capacity allows, extend BA support to other admitted lines (Commercial Auto, Property, Package, Inland Marine, COP), ensuring alignment with underwriting, policy administration, and operational objectives.
Maintain awareness of the broader ISO GL enhancement project to ensure day-to-day support work stays consistent with upcoming changes.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of business analysis experience within Commercial Property & Casualty insurance, admitted lines.
Hands-on Guidewire PolicyCenter experience is required.
Direct experience with General Liability (GL) is strongly preferred, experience with ISO admitted lines regulatory requirements is a plus.
Comfortable working across two systems day-to-day: Freshservice (incident triage) and Azure DevOps (requirements and defect management).
Experience with Agile/iterative delivery and working knowledge of SDLC and PMLC processes.
Hands-on experience developing business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, process diagrams, and data rules.
Experience troubleshooting system issues and reviewing or reengineering IT solutions to support process improvement.
Ability to translate business needs for specialized commercial and ISO admitted insurance products into clear functional requirements.
PREFERRED,
AAIS and NAIC standards knowledge, particularly for Workers'' Compensation.
Experience with other admitted lines: Commercial Auto, Property, Package, Inland Marine, COP.
Prior experience on a large ISO or regulatory-driven enhancement project.
Experience with visualization and process-mapping tools.
Guidewire Cloud certification.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated initiative with the ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity.
Collaborative team player who works effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Ability to drive tasks through completion with minimal supervision.
Strong time-management skills, able to balance incident triage with longer-term requirements work across a six-week release cycle.
Experience using standard project and business tools, including Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with SharePoint and UI mockup tools.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor''s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Insurance, or a related field.
Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) is preferred but not required.
