Dock Material Handler

Lakeshore Talent is hiring a Dock Material Handler for a contract opportunity. This position is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, storing, and shipping inventory while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized warehouse and dock area.

Pay: $20.60–$21.79 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Employment Type: Contract
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely load and unload inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Move, stack, and store products in designated warehouse locations.
  • Inspect and count incoming freight for accuracy, damage, or signs of infestation.
  • Complete receiving logs and other required warehouse documentation.
  • Scan pallets into the correct locations using warehouse management and RF technology.
  • Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, motorized pallet jacks, man lifts, and other powered equipment.
  • Prepare outbound shipments and accurately complete manifests and bills of lading.
  • Maintain an organized warehouse, shipping dock, and receiving area.
  • Follow sanitation standards and applicable food-storage requirements.
  • Monitor coolers and freezers for cleanliness, temperature, and proper operation.
  • Report equipment maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with scheduled inventory counts.
  • Support distribution, transportation, reclamation, and other departments as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and equipment requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to four years of relevant warehouse or material-handling experience.
  • Experience operating sit-down and stand-up forklifts and motorized pallet jacks.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems, RF scanners, shipping documents, and inventory processes.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet daily deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and solve problems proactively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Physical and Work-Environment Requirements
  • Ability to push or pull up to 120 pounds.
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 50 pounds to waist level.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds overhead.
  • Ability to walk and stand on hard surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand or sit on a forklift for much of the workday.
  • Willingness to work in indoor warehouse and outdoor dock environments.
  • Ability to occasionally work in cold-storage areas ranging from 40°F to -10°F.

The interview process includes one virtual interview followed by one onsite interview. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing:

  • Seven-year criminal background check
