Position Summary

Beyond International is seeking a hands-on, tech-forward Controller to work fully onsite at our Houston, Texas office. This leader will guide our accounting department into the AI era while overseeing all financial, accounting, budgeting, and reporting activities for our commercial real estate, property management, and investment portfolios. This role requires a unique blend of deep real estate accounting expertise, a proven ability to learn new technologies rapidly, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves for day-to-day operations.

Hands-On Financial & Operations Leadership

  • Budgeting & Planning: Lead the development, execution, and monitoring of annual corporate and property-level budgets.
  • Financial Forecasting: Design strategic financial plans, variance analysis workflows, and cash flow projections to support operational growth.
  • Core Accounting: Execute and oversee day-to-day accounting, billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and payroll functions.
  • Financial Reporting: Manage financial reporting for commercial properties, joint ventures, and investment funds.
  • Compliance & Audits: Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting, tax filings, and annual audits.
  • Statement Performance: Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for stakeholders.
  • Capital Oversight: Monitor cash flow, optimize working capital, and manage property-level budgets directly.


AI & Technology Transformation

  • Lead the accounting department's transition into the AI age.
  • Actively research, test, and implement AI-driven accounting software and automation tools.
  • Streamline property management accounting workflows using modern tech stacks.
  • Eliminate manual data entry through intelligent automation and robotic process automation (RPA).
  • Train and upskill the accounting team to leverage AI tools effectively.


Strategic Investment Support

  • Provide financial analysis, underwriting support, and due diligence for new investments.
  • Track portfolio performance metrics, internal rates of return (IRR), and equity multiples.
  • Partner with executive leadership to guide long-term financial forecasting.


Performance Bonus & Incentives

  • Eligible for an annual performance bonus based on the achievement of specific financial and operational milestones.
  • Key performance bonus metrics include meeting portfolio budget and delinquency goals, managing net operating income (NOI) targets, and driving efficiency gains via successful AI tool implementation.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong background in commercial real estate, property management, and investment accounting.
  • Work Arrangement: Ability to work fully onsite at our Houston, Texas office.
  • Demonstrated Learning Agility: Proven track record of rapidly learning, adapting to, and mastering new technologies and workflows.
  • Hands-On Work Ethic: Willingness to directly execute accounting tasks while simultaneously managing high-level department strategy.
  • Tech-Forward Mindset: Experience or high interest in adopting, implementing, or championing AI tools and automation software.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in real estate management software, with Yardi experience highly preferred.

Pay Range

  • Base pay: $135k - $165k annually.
  • Bonus: Eligible for annual performance-based bonus
