Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • 5 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of work experience in consumer product design.
  • Experience shipping multiple consumer products in a lead or executive engineer role.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers around the world on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.
  • System integration experience, including electro-mechanical components (audio, display, camera, antenna, etc.), waterproofing, thermals, grounding, or product architecture.
  • Deep technical knowledge in multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products.

As a Senior Product Design Engineer, you will design the next-generation Pixel Earbuds. You will drive the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts while working in a manufacturing and product-oriented development environment. You demonstrate creative problem-solving and design skills, clear communication, and a solid base of engineering fundamentals. Your strong organizational skills help you manage your varied responsibilities across the product. You will work on a Product Design team that balances comfort, performance, and appearance in an innovative and harmonious design that complements and enables the technology. You will collaborate with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams such as Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Industrial Design, Reliability, Operations, and Audio to define and deliver excellent products.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
  • Apply design, engineering, and technical expertise to influence cross-functionally and deliver reliable mass production components, and solve time-sensitive problems.
  • Anticipate and address product design issues or risks, analyze data, and validate product design to suggest or implement design improvements.
  • Manage the product design, provide guidance to team members, and communicate progress, and request feedback to prevent/remove roadblocks.
