Executive Director information

What does an executive director do?

An Executive Director is the senior leader responsible for overseeing the operations and strategic direction of an organization, often in the nonprofit or public sector. Their duties include managing staff, developing policies, ensuring financial sustainability, and working with the board of directors to fulfill the organization's mission. Executive Directors also represent the organization to stakeholders, secure funding, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Their leadership is crucial for driving organizational growth and achieving long-term goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an executive director, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Executive Director, you need strong leadership, strategic planning, financial management, and organizational development skills, typically supported by a relevant bachelor's or master's degree and significant managerial experience. Familiarity with budgeting software, CRM systems, and nonprofit or corporate governance frameworks is often required. Excellent communication, decision-making, and relationship-building abilities are crucial soft skills for inspiring teams and engaging stakeholders. These competencies are essential for driving organizational growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and achieving long-term mission success.

What are some common challenges faced by an executive director when balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day operations?

Executive Directors often face the challenge of balancing high-level strategic planning with the demands of overseeing daily operations. While setting long-term goals and ensuring organizational sustainability, they must also address immediate issues such as team management, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication. Effective delegation, time management, and maintaining open communication with both staff and the board are key to navigating these challenges successfully. Building a strong leadership team can also help distribute responsibilities and ensure smooth organizational functioning.

About Fulltime AI

Fulltime is the leading voice AI platform for the trades industry, empowering every contractor to deliver a world-class customer experience.

Our technology enables HVAC, plumbing, and electrical businesses across North America to deploy AI agents that answer every call 24/7, book more jobs, and deliver faster service, so owners can focus on the work that matters most.

We're building a future where a small trades business never loses a customer to a missed call, where owners win back their evenings, and where AI handles the front office so skilled tradespeople can do what they do best. We're growing quickly with strong product market fit and a massive, largely untapped market ahead of us.

About the role

We're looking for an Account Executive with a self-starter mindset and a builder's mentality to join our GTM team. This is an opportunity to accelerate your career early: you'll help define our sales motion, close new business, and have a direct impact on how we grow across North America. This is not a hand-holding role. You'll be given real ownership from day one.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the full sales cycle for SMB accounts, from self-generated leads and qualification through negotiation and closing
  • Generate pipeline from target accounts via value-driven outbound across calls, email, and social
  • Play a key role in shaping our go-to-market motion and influence how we engage and close key accounts
  • Provide customer feedback to help shape our product roadmap and messaging
  • Leverage the founding team to accelerate deal cycles and secure buy-in from business owners

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • 4+ years of experience in a closing role with full-cycle responsibilities including cold outreach
  • Are genuinely curious about understanding our customers' business challenges
  • Are dedicated to tracking and improving performance and efficiency on a daily basis
  • Exhibit a sense of entrepreneurship: a self-starter with a high sense of urgency and ability to work within undefined processes
  • Are self-motivated with a drive to succeed and knack for building relationship
  • Fluency in English and French, written and verbal

Even better if you have:

  • Experience selling to SMBs in SaaS or the trades and home services industry
  • Been an early sales hire at a startup before
  • An interest in AI and excitement about bringing modern tools to traditional industries

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary with uncapped commission
  • Flexible time off
  • Career growth within a fast-growing AI company
