Description

The Sr. Director, Content - Flag Football will lead the development and execution of the content strategy for Flag Football, building a compelling and differentiated voice for a new professional sports property. This leader will oversee content across all owned and operated platforms, external social and digital channels, editorial programming, short-form and long-form storytelling, and strategic content partnerships.


Working cross-functionally with Marketing, Communications, Partnerships, Broadcast, Product, and League Operations, this individual will establish a consistent narrative that drives fan awareness, engagement, and affinity leading into launch and beyond. The role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on content leader who can shape vision, create meaningful stories, build content ecosystems, and measure performance across all channels.


Responsibilities:ย 

Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership

  • Define and execute the content vision, strategy, and editorial direction for Pro Flag, shaping how the league engages and grows its audience across all digital platforms
  • Establish the league's voice, storytelling framework, and content pillars to create a distinct and compelling fan experience
  • Ensure a cohesive narrative is consistently represented across owned, operated, and external channelsย 

Content Development & Distribution

  • Lead the creation, production, and distribution of short-form, long-form, editorial, video, and social content across all fan-facing platforms
  • Oversee content planning and execution across owned and operated channels, including the website, app, and other digital properties, as well as external platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook, and emerging social channels
  • Build and maintain an integrated content calendar aligned with key business initiatives, league milestones, competitions, and launch plansย 

Partnerships & Cross-Functional Integration

  • Build a consistent, integrated narrative across league, athlete, sponsor, media, and broadcast touchpoints
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Communications, Partnerships, Product, Broadcast, and League leadership to ensure content supports strategic business objectives
  • Lead relationships with agencies, production companies, creators, influencers, media partners, and other external collaborators to expand reach and elevate storytellingย 

Audience Growth & Performance

  • Develop audience growth strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and fan affinity across all content channels
  • Establish success metrics, reporting frameworks, and performance benchmarks to measure content effectiveness and business impact
  • Leverage audience insights, platform analytics, and market trends to continuously refine strategy and optimize performanceย 

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing content function capable of delivering best-in-class storytelling across multiple platforms and formats
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, accountability, and innovation while managing internal teams and external partners

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in content, digital media, social media, editorial, or brand storytelling roles
  • Significant experience within sports, media, entertainment, or other live-event driven environments
  • Demonstrated success building and executing multi-channel content strategies for high-profile brands, leagues, teams, or media properties
  • Deep expertise across social media platforms, digital content ecosystems, audience development, and content distribution
  • Experience leading editorial and content production efforts, including both short-form and long-form storytelling
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior executives
  • Experience managing external agencies, production partners, creators, influencers, and vendors
  • Strong understanding of content analytics, reporting, and performance measurement

Preferred:

  • Experience launching or scaling a new sports property, media brand, or consumer-facing platform
  • Professional sports league, team, broadcaster, streaming platform, or sports media experience
  • Experience developing athlete-focused storytelling strategies and creator partnerships
  • Strong understanding of sponsorship integration, branded content, and partner marketing
  • Experience overseeing content teams and agency partnerships in fast-paced, high-growth environments
