The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% forvery largepopulations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a GlobalRisk Data & Analytics Fellow to join our Global Risk team.

The Risk subfunction is designing a risk management framework andsettingenterprise risk strategy, while providing risk management support across the organization. The Global Risk Data & Analytics Fellow is a unique opportunity for a data-driven and risk-minded professional to apply private sector rigor to non-profit risk management.The Fellowcan expect their tasks to include:

  • Designing andidentifyingdata sources and needs to Risk Management information dashboards and other analytical activities;

  • Supporting documentation (data dictionaries andmethodologylogs), data cleaning and creation, and stakeholder coordination;

  • Executive data availability and integrity audits;

  • Supporting projects such as platform and data needs assessments, risk data monitoring feasibility, and predictive risk modeling;

  • Business case development for digital twins and agentic support, including use case proposals for AI for Risk;

  • Key metric and dashboard design; and

  • Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.

This position can be fully in-person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to theVice President, Risk. The position requires 40 hoursper week.As volunteers, interns and fellows receive a monthly stipend to help defray their expenses relatedtoparticipatingin the internship program. This volunteer stipend is not an hourly wage, nor wages paid for services provided by the intern or fellow.

The duration of this fellowship is foran initialterm of six months, from September 2026 -February2027.

General Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degreeor equivalent relevant work experience;

  • Proficiencyin analytics tools, data science, and data risk management;

  • Advanced Excel and experience with trend analysis and developing metrics;

  • Experience in Finance or Risk in corporate setting preferred;

  • Ability to translate complex data for non-technical audiences and develop data requirements from scratch;

  • Comfort with articulating data journey and alternative options for sourcing data in absence of quality data;

  • Strongproblem-solving skills; and

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
