Job description

Company

Founded by CPAs, tax attorneys, and engineers, Taxbit is the leading innovator automating global tax reporting for the digital economy. Taxbit's AI-enabled platform streamlines compliance related to digital assets, payments, and other financial transactions. Its unique combination of deep subject matter expertise and AI-forward technology have made it a fast-growing disruptor trusted by the world's leading fintechs, marketplaces, digital asset players, Big 4 accounting firms, traditional enterprises, and government agencies. Backed by top-tier Silicon Valley VCs, Taxbit's team is located across offices in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Salt Lake City, London, Madrid, and Singapore.

Opportunity for Impact

Taxbit is seeking a Head of Communications to build and lead our global communications strategy. The global digital economy landscape is shifting fast, with Taxbit at the center of it. This leadership role shapes how we show up publicly and internally: defining our narrative, translating complex regulatory developments into clear public positioning, and bringing top-tier media and analyst relationships that establish Taxbit as the authoritative voice in tax and compliance for the digital economy. You will partner closely with executive leadership, marketing, product, and people teams to ensure message consistency across all channels and stakeholders. This is a high-ownership role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, sees opportunity in ambiguity, and wants to build something impactful.

Help us build the future of AI-powered compliance, automation, and operational excellence in an industry where precision matters.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Taxbit's business objectives, brand positioning, and thought leadership goals.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team on external communications, regulatory messaging, and reputational risk.
  • Oversee internal communications to foster employee engagement, alignment, and a strong "One Taxbit" culture.
  • Lead all aspects of corporate communications, including press releases, media outreach, and executive communications.
  • Bring and maintain relationships with key media outlets, industry analysts, and external partners with particular focus on crypto, fintech, and compliance verticals.
  • Own analyst relations across relevant firms, positioning Taxbit as the category-defining authority for crypto tax and compliance.
  • Monitor regulatory and policy developments and translate them into timely, media-ready narratives.
  • Prepare executive leadership for press interviews, public speaking engagements, and industry events.
  • Partner with marketing to ensure message consistency across channels (including events, digital, social, and content).
  • Bring the media's perspective into planning and collaborate across marketing on stories that will resonate with trade and business press.
  • Monitor media coverage, industry and regulatory trends, and public sentiment to inform and adjust communications strategy.
  • Track relevant industry awards and lists and manage submissions on Taxbit's behalf.

Professional Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field, with a proven track record in high-growth, regulated technology environments (crypto experience preferred; fintech or financial services experience required).
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities to build, test, and scale AI-powered solutions.
  • Sees AI as a force multiplier and actively looks for ways to enhance team performance through innovation & curiosity.
  • Established relationships with crypto, fintech, and business media, with a track record of placements in tier 1 and tier 2 publications.
  • Strong analyst relations experience, with the ability to build credibility with firms that influence institutional buyers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex regulatory and technical topics into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience advising executive leadership on communications strategy, regulatory messaging, and reputational risk.
  • Experience managing crisis communications in fast-moving, high-stakes environments.
  • Experience managing internal communications in a global, high-growth environment, with a track record of driving employee engagement and organizational alignment.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing communications teams.
  • Impeccable organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with change, ambiguity, and rapid iteration — you see opportunity where others see uncertainty.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a high-growth environment.

The base salary range for this role is $150,000-$225,000. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and benefits. Actual compensation will vary depending on various job-related factors, including, but not limited to location, experience, level, and job qualifications.
