The Cross-Functional (XFn) team is a game-changer in the professional services industry. Possessing industry agnostic expertise and services, the XFn team supports clients throughout every stage of the business and investment lifecycle, giving team members unparalleled access to key stakeholders and unfettered opportunities for professional growth.
The Associate, XFn role at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to assume a wide range of responsibilities and make a significant impact. This Associate role is foundational to our ability to deliver integrated strategy, financial, and operational solutions across key practice areas. The Associate, XFn will report directly to senior leaders and collaborate with team members and clients to address complex challenges, including due diligence, value creation and preservation, business transformation, bankruptcy preparation, and M&A processes. You will support key initiatives, manage discrete workstreams and work closely with senior leaders. If you thrive in a high-performance culture and want to help build the future of a rapidly growing consultancy, this is the right role for you.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with senior team members and clients to tackle complex financial and operational challenges, including due diligence, value creation and preservation, transformation efforts, bankruptcy preparation and investment banking processes (M&A, restructuring, capital raising)
  • Analyze financial statements and key operational data; build models such as three-statement forecasts, TWCFs, DCFs, LBOs, accretion/dilution and value creation scenarios
  • Contribute to restructuring and transformation workstreams including DIP sizing, petition prep, vendor analysis, SOALs, SOFAs, MORs, KPI tracking, incentive plans, liquidation and headcount analysis, GL review, footprint rationalization, S&OP, org design and go-to-market strategy
  • Create high-impact deliverables including teasers, CIMs, KPIs, financial updates and board-ready reporting for executives, investors and creditors
  • Develop operational forecasts and budgets for active and potential investments and participate in operational, financial and management meetings to share analysis and findings
  • Support internal trainings and best practice sharing
  • Support business development and client relationship efforts
  • Support talent acquisition and firm-building initiatives
  • Contribute to a high-performing, inclusive and values-driven culture

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a top undergraduate program
  • Located or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles or New York
  • Invested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed
  • Minimum one and a half years of experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity or formal financial modeling at a top-tier firm
  • Proven ability to build three-statement models, TWCFs, dynamic KPI dashboards and complex ad hoc analyses - or the aptitude to ramp quickly
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams
  • High attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindset
  • Track record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments

$250,000 - $325,000 a year
In accordance with pay transparency laws in the City of New York and the State of California, Portage Point provides a good-faith cash compensation range for this position. This range represents the cash compensation (base plus bonus) that the firm reasonably expects to pay upon hire, based on good-faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting. The final compensation within this range will depend on the candidate's qualifications, education, training, experience and location. In addition to cash compensation, Portage Point may offer comprehensive benefits and equity participation, which are not reflected in the pay range above.
