Job description

Executive Housekeeper
Los Angeles, California
Full Time  |  Non-Exempt  |  Reports to: House Manager
Compensation: $55–$60 per hour
Local candidates preferred but open to candidates from out of the area who are willing to relocate!

A private family based in Los Angeles is seeking a polished, experienced Executive Housekeeper to serve as the operational backbone of their home. This is a leadership role as much as a hands-on one: the right candidate will bring exceptional standards, a calm and adaptable presence, and the kind of quiet confidence that earns trust over time.
The property is a beautifully appointed, high-end residence with museum-quality finishes including natural wood paneling, specialty leatherwork, fine art throughout, and uncoated, unfinished surfaces that require a knowledgeable touch and product-specific care. The home is intimate in feel, and this person will work closely alongside the family, making warmth, discretion, and a genuinely nurturing personality essential.
The family is looking for someone who has navigated elevated private service before, whether through a family office, a superyacht, or a comparable UHNW environment. They want a self-starter who takes ownership, communicates directly, and brings a professional yet approachable energy to everything they do. The standard is high, and so is the support.
Schedule and Location

  • When principals are not in residence: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm with a 30-minute lunch.
  • When principals are in residence: 8:00am to 2:00pm, break, then 4:00pm to 7:00pm to assist culinary with dinner service and cleanup.
  • Travel is required up to four times per year, including to additional family residences, typically in trips of two to three weeks. Working holidays is part of the role.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform museum-quality cleaning with expertise in specialty surfaces including natural wood, unfinished/uncoated materials, leather, glass, antiques, fine art, marble, silver, and brass
  • Learn and strictly follow the property’s approved product and care guide for specialty finishes provided by the interior designers
  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and ongoing coaching to the Housekeeper, including weekly check-ins, performance expectations, and annual reviews
  • Oversee household inventory including pantry, culinary supplies, and household products; coordinate procurement and maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Coordinate the housekeeping schedule to minimize impact on the principals and their daily routine
  • Assist culinary and event staff during dinner service, family gatherings, and special occasions
  • Anticipate the needs of the home and the family with minimal direction, demonstrating proactive ownership of the household
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify quality issues and escalate appropriately to the House Manager or relevant vendor
  • Build and maintain documentation, checklists, and SOPs to uphold the home’s standards consistently
  • Contribute to budget preparation and household cost management
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration with Facilities, Security, IT, and Administration teams as needed
  • Handle wardrobe care and assist with packing and unpacking during travel
  • Care for the family’s children in a warm, kind manner when paths cross throughout the day; this is not a childcare role but genuine affection for children is important
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and principal privacy at all times

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in a senior housekeeping role within a high-end private residence or comparable luxury environment; yacht-experience is a plus!
  • Three or more years of direct people management experience, including conducting one-on-ones and annual performance reviews
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and hold team members accountable with warmth and professionalism rather than rigidity
  • Experience working cross-functionally alongside Facilities, Security, IT, and administrative teams
  • Deep knowledge of care protocols for high-end and specialty surfaces; ability and willingness to learn property-specific product guidelines
  • Strong adaptability and composure when navigating shifting priorities and dynamic personalities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate directly and professionally with principals
  • Highly organized with strong delegation, prioritization, and attention to detail
  • Comfortable both giving and receiving direct feedback
  • Proficiency with smartphone and computer tools; familiarity with household management systems a plus
  • Warmth, patience, and ease around children, including infants and young kids
  • Absolute discretion and commitment to principal privacy
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Local to Los Angeles or willing to relocate to Los Angeles
  • Willingness to undergo an in-depth background check and provide stellar employment references

Valued but Not Required

  • Background in family office, superyacht (Chief Stew), or comparable UHNW private service environment
  • Specialized training or experience with fine art, antiques, or museum-quality surfaces

Compensation and Benefits

  • $55–$60 per hour | depending on experience
  • Benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick days, paid vacation, and paid holidays.
  • Travel related expenses and meals.
  • Relocation support if needed.
