Team
As our primary Legal Counsel with in the team for the US, you will have total ownership over our legal strategy. You will report into our legal structure while being embedded locally within the US Executive Committee (ExCo). You'll be the 'go-to' legal architect for our US expansion, working alongside the ExCo to ensure our growth is both rapid and compliant.
Your Responsibilities
We are seeking a high-autonomy, AI-forward General Counsel to lead our US legal function.
As a senior Individual Contributor, you will be the primary legal architect for our organization, reporting directly to the CEO, US. This is a role for someone who thrives on direct execution, from drafting complex agreements to navigating the complex regulatory space for digital deposits and banking, while utilizing cutting-edge AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance legal precision.
The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy legal strategist who views AI as a force multiplier and is eager to shape the future of finance in a lean, high-velocity environment. Other responsibilities include:
  • Act as the primary drafter and negotiator for all commercial contracts, debt/equity instruments, and legal documents.
  • Regulatory Navigation: Analyze market developments in fintech, privacy, and information security (e.g., deposit regulation, AML, data privacy) to ensure continuous compliance AI Champion: Identify and implement AI-driven legal tools for contract analysis, research, and workflow automation to maintain high output as a solo lead.
  • Strategic Governance: Own the legal lifecycle of our US entities, managing board materials and reporting directly to the US CEO.
  • Product & Tech Advisory: Provide real-time legal feedback on new product features, specifically those involving automated financial services and emerging tech.
  • Litigation & IP Management: Directly manage claims and intellectual property matters, coordinating with specialized outside counsel only when necessary.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as a dedicated partner to the Commercial, Finance and HR teams, providing swift, actionable advice on labor laws and contract terms.

Your Profile
  • Education & licensure: Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree with a license to practice law in NY required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in a general corporate legal practice, with a heavy emphasis on Fintech, Banking, or Financial Services.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven track record in startup space, with focus on Fintech and banking experience
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities as a solution-focused problem solver.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate and support the company's legal position to both internal and external entities with brevity and clarity.
