Starting Pay: $24.15/ย Shift differential - .50/hr. for day shift and $2.50/hr. for night shiftย

As a Production Control Operator, you will...

  • Follow work instructions, procedures and product specifications; add specified amounts of raw materials into vessels or blending tanks; sets valves to feed liquid and solid materials through equipment units.ย 
  • Set controls in specified sequence on control panel to start automatic feed.
  • Weigh out quantities of powdered or liquid chemicals, following formula sheets.ย 
  • Start and monitor feed of solid or semi-solid materials through equipment units, such as mills, heating vessels and mixing tanks.ย 
  • Dump pre-weighed ingredients into tanks, hoppers, or ball/continuous mills.ย 
  • Adjust controls and valves to maintain system at specified temperature, pressure, and vacuum levels.ย 
  • Observe chemical reactions; monitors gauges, samples and data recorders; and receives notification from analytical laboratories, supervisors, or other workers to make specified operating adjustments.ย 
  • Observe gauges, and instruments, turns valves, and moves controls to regulate temperatures, pressures, and flow of steam, coolant, and chemical constituents through system to effect prescribed reaction within critical limits, according to knowledge of equipment and process.ย 
  • Draw samples of products at specified stages of synthesis and perform standard tests to determine if manufacturing is proceeding efficiently and in conformity with specifications.ย 
  • Attach hoses, pumps or transfer equipment to move completed slurry to holding area or manufacturing coating equipment.ย 
  • Calculate additives and Dilutions required for batches in support of the Ready-to-coat process
  • Be able to read and make decisions based on process parameter sheets in support of ready-to-coat.
  • Own and manage the sampling process to ensure that all samples are representative of what is in the storage tanks (including knowledge of foam/mixing issues/Sample cups and procedures)
  • Carryout required ready-to-coat tasks provided by the targeters
  • Will be required to learn the slurry bench process and serve as a backup to the process tech.
  • Need to understand the basics of the targeting process to ensure that work is documented correctly.

Work environment/Physical demandsย 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.ย  ย 

Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.ย 

Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.ย  ย ย 

Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.ย 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle and feel as well as to reach with hands and arms.ย 

Employee is frequently required to stand and sit as well as frequently required to walk, stoop, bend and climb stairs.ย  ย 

Production Control Operator must frequently move hoses and drums, and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.ย  ย 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.ย 

Use of personal protection equipment is required including, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and gloves.ย  ย 

Use of respirators and splash protection may be required.ย 

Employee may be required to work mandatory overtime and/or twelve-hour shifts.ย 

Must be able to work with minimal supervision and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations while performing tasks which may require multiple steps ย 

Ability to operate complex machines and often including use of intermediate computer skillsย 

Must demonstrate enhanced trouble shooting skills within their assigned processย 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GEDย 
  • 2 years' work experience in a production/manufacturing plantย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • 2 years' experience in a Chemical Operations plant
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.)ย 
  • Demonstrated enhanced math and/or science abilityย
