Job description

General The Project Manager reports to the Program Director, Diridon Station Redevelopment Program, and is responsible for managing and administering Diridon Station Redevelopment projects, activities, and processes. This is a limited three (3) year term position. This position will report to two locations as required (Millbrae and San Jose, CA).

Essential Functions & Duties Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of Diridon Station Redevelopment Program projects and activities. Develop and maintain the project execution plan for assigned projects. Acts as liaison with partner agency staff and external stakeholders for assigned projects.

Provide oversight and directives for consultants, and key partner agency staff throughout the project. Manage assigned projects and support the Program Director and Deputy Director as needed. Manage coordination and communications with all involved parties, including internal and external stakeholders, other agency departments, senior management, consultants, and project partners.

Investigate, negotiate, and resolve project issues. Identify the root cause of problems and present appropriate solutions. Examples of Essential Duties: Represent assigned Diridon Program projects and activities at meetings, including regular project reviews partner agencies Perform the following project management duties; develop the scope of work, prepare and review cost estimates; monitor and produce status reports, schedules, and budgets; monitor work in progress; approve, negotiate, and execute, funding agreements and consultant contracts, authorizing contract payments per contract.

Prepare staff reports and presentations for the Program Director, the Joint Steering Committee, and partner agencies on assigned projects. Negotiate and resolve project issues. Perform all job duties and responsibilities safely to protect oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm.

Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: Bachelor's degree in urban planning, business, engineering or related field. Three (3) years' full-time experience in project management of transportation planning, construction or environmental projects.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with grants administration including developing grant strategies for federal, state or local grant opportunities Preliminary engineering or project controls experience for large multimodal project(s) Possess strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Possess a California driver's license with a safe driving record. The selection process may include a panel interview, written and skills test assessments, or supplemental questions.
