Job description

General Purpose

Provide analysis and reporting on key business metrics including milk supply and demand, route optimization, sales performance, and other operationally focused items as needed. Complete routine reporting and data inquiries related to customers, haulers, and farmer-owners for internal and external stakeholders.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain milk supply and demand budgets by monitoring and forecasting farmer-owner milk production and customer demand.
  • Calculate credits and other special pricing for customers at month end and communicate to the accounting department prior to invoicing.
  • Compile farm quality and component results for monthly reporting and invoicing.
  • Support key relationships with customers, farmer-owners and haulers by providing routine reporting, responding to inquiries, and completing special projects as needed.
  • Gain a quantifiable understanding of variations in milk supply and dispositions on a daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual basis.
  • Collect data, analyze, and report on customer and hauler performance including items such as wait time, weight variances, balancing costs, and other items for purposes of continuous improvement.
  • Provide detailed analysis to help evaluate sales opportunities for milk and milk components.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of optimization models for raw milk movements, analyze model results, and assist in the implementation of modifications to reduce costs across business units.
  • Extract, collect, and modify data from internal and external systems for the purpose of enhancing decision making and strategic planning across multiple business units.
  • Serve as a key resource for dairy industry information and assess trends related to milk production, general market conditions, pricing, and other relevant topics.
  • Develop and compile materials including presentations and written documents for various stakeholders as assigned and present to various audiences as needed.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skillset required for role.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in agriculture, business, economics, sales and marketing, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • 2 to 5 years of general marketing and/or sales, market research, data analysis, communications, analytical or related experience
  • Knowledge of the dairy industry is preferred
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and have a basic understanding of database management and applications
  • Must be accountable, have a sense of urgency, committed, self-motivated and detail oriented with excellent organizational and follow through skills
  • Must be able to interact, collaborate and coordinate with a diverse set of stakeholders, including cross functional groups, dairy farmers, general management and executive leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including exceptional communication and listening skills, with the capacity to articulate insights
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, for a diverse range of internal and external audiences
  • Able to work independently and with others
  • Willing to learn new tasks
  • Able to bring a project from conception to completion and adhere to steps and timelines
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Knowledge of SAP, Power BI, Ever.Ag, Maptitude, optimization software and/or AI applications is helpful but not required
