Job description

Working closely with the Manager Special Events & Promotions, the Specialist is a full-time position that executes all phases of an event and promotion, including but not limited to planning, execution and reconciliation as assigned to ensure the highest quality experience for our guests.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Performs the day-to-day operations of the Special Events & Promotions Department.
  • Responsible for various administrative duties such as drafting memorandums, ordering, stocking, filing and maintaining inventory of department/event supplies.
  • Works with the Manager Special Events & Promotions to develop an overview and creative strategy for each assigned event.
  • Utilizes event checklists as an organizational tool for each event and adheres to timelines as assigned.
  • Coordinates event needs with internal departments, including but not limited to Club Serrano, Player Development, Marketing, Entertainment, Hotel, Resort Services, Warehouse, Banquets, Catering, Team Member Relations, Slot Operations, Table Games, Security, Facilities etc.
  • Develops and distributes communications regarding assigned events and promotions with internal and external partners.
  • Facilitates event logistics including load-in/out of decor, A/V, computers, signage, and reporting. Reviews all required paperwork to satisfy 1099 requirements when necessary.
  • Utilizes Gaming Systems such as IGT, PKMS and Synkros to create promotional offers & builds, execute promotions, and distribute prizes. Enforces the privacy of VIP Casino Guests and limits requests for information in accordance with hotel policies ensuring confidentiality of all casino information.
  • Research, responds and provides event inquiry information to guests and Palms team members as needed, in addition provides general information and directions about casino, hotel, and local metropolitan area.
  • Acts as a liaison with all vendors, guests, team members, departments, and divisions on all event relevant matters. Exhibits a professional demeanor and willingness to assist guests whenever requested.
  • Protects the confidentiality of all company files, data, and documents under their immediate control.
  • Notifies Supervisor, and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged thefts.
  • Responds to emergency situations, as necessary.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of Casino, Marketing, Communications or Business-related experience.
  • Must have a strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).
  • Must have strong problem-solving abilities, combined with a capacity to work independently, and make appropriate decisions without supervision.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time and to react well under pressure.
  • Must be able to interact well with internal departments and external vendors.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected and an essential function of this position.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification, specifically a Nevada Gaming license.

Physical Demands:
  • Majority of work is performed in a casino/hotel setting.
  • Must be tolerant of varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
  • May be exposed to smoke.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Constant contact with executives, department management, team members, and guests.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.
  • Repetitive motions, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, objects and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Eye/hand coordination.

  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
