Events Designer information

How to get into events designing?

Events designers plan and create event layouts, themes, and decor, often requiring a background in design, architecture, or related fields. Gaining experience through internships, building a portfolio, and developing skills in design software like Adobe Creative Suite can help entry into the field. Strong organizational and communication skills are also important for coordinating with clients and vendors.

Work EnvironmentCreative studios, client meetings, on-site event setupOn-site event management, vendor coordination
Industry UsageDesign-focused roles in event planning companies, agenciesOperational roles across various event types
Search & Comparison IntentFocus on creative design aspects of eventsFocus on logistics and execution

Events Designers primarily focus on the visual and thematic aspects of events, creating the overall look and feel. In contrast, Event Coordinators handle the logistical planning, vendor management, and on-site execution. Both roles are essential in event planning but differ in their core responsibilities and skill sets.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an events designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Events Designer, you need a strong foundation in design principles, event planning, and project management, often supported by a degree in event management, design, or a related field. Proficiency with design software like Adobe Creative Suite, event management tools, and familiarity with budgeting and vendor coordination platforms is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to manage stress set outstanding Events Designers apart. These skills ensure the seamless execution of visually impactful and memorable events that meet client objectives.

What does an events designer do?

An Events Designer is responsible for creating the overall look, feel, and atmosphere of an event. They work closely with clients to understand their vision and then design elements such as themes, layouts, décor, lighting, and floral arrangements. Events Designers collaborate with vendors, manage budgets, and oversee the setup to ensure every detail aligns with the desired aesthetic. Their goal is to create memorable, visually appealing experiences that meet the client's objectives.

What are some common challenges an events designer faces when coordinating with vendors and clients?

Events Designers often navigate tight timelines and evolving client expectations while collaborating with multiple vendors such as florists, lighting specialists, and caterers. Clear communication and meticulous organization are crucial to ensure every design element aligns with the event vision and logistical constraints. Managing last-minute changes and balancing creative concepts with budget limitations are also frequent challenges. Building strong relationships with trusted vendors and maintaining flexibility helps Events Designers deliver a successful event that meets or exceeds client expectations.

Job description

About the Role

RadixArk builds the open-source AI infrastructure behind SGLang and Miles, used by developers and enterprises around the world. We're looking for a visual designer to join our design team and to give our brand a distinct visual voice, led by illustration, and who treats modern AI tools as part of their craft rather than a novelty. Taste and ideas matter to us more than years on a resume, which is why we read portfolios first and care most about the work itself. You'll shape how RadixArk shows up everywhere from our site and decks to the conferences and community events we run. We care about craft and about building things that scale, so the best work here won't just set the quality bar, it'll become systems the whole team can build on.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the design team to build cohesive visual systems for RadixArk and SGLang that scale across marketing, events, and community initiatives.
  • Create visual assets across event branding, booths, signage, swag, decks, blog and social graphics, and campaigns.
  • Create original illustrations that define and extend the visual identity of RadixArk and SGLang.
  • Use AI-native workflows (GPT Image, Nano Banana, Claude Code, and whatever comes next) to explore concepts fast and ship production-quality assets.
Qualifications
  • Every application must include a portfolio or personal website. Applications without one will not be reviewed.
  • A strong portfolio showing your best work, what you owned, and the thinking behind it.
  • Proven experience in event and marketing design.
  • Strong illustration skills with original work for brands, campaigns, or events.
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite; comfortable using AI tools in everyday design work.
  • Great cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
Bonus
  • Experience designing for large-scale events or conferences.
  • Motion design (After Effects, Rive, Lottie, or similar).
  • 3D design skills (Blender, Cinema 4D, or similar).
To Apply

Send us your resume and portfolio or personal website (required) along with a short note on a project you're proud of.

About RadixArk

RadixArk is an infrastructure-first company built by engineers who've shipped production AI systems, created SGLang (30K+ GitHub stars, the fastest open LLM serving engine), and developed Miles (our large-scale RL framework). Founded by AI infrastructure veterans from xAI and NVIDIA, we're on a mission to democratize frontier-level AI infrastructure by building world-class open systems for inference and training. Our team has optimized kernels serving billions of tokens daily, designed distributed training systems coordinating 10,000+ GPUs, and contributed to infrastructure that powers leading AI companies and research labs.

Compensation

We offer competitive compensation with equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible work arrangements. Compensation is determined by location, level, and experience.

Equal Opportunity

RadixArk is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is proud to offer equal employment opportunity to everyone regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, veteran status, and more.
