New Village Arts is seeking thoughtful, collaborative, and creative Designers to support the artistic vision of our productions and events.This posting is intended as a general hiring pool for design roles that may include, but are not limited to, scenic, lighting, costume, sound, props, projection, and other production design disciplines. Designers at NVA play an essential role in shaping the visual, auditory, and atmospheric world of a production while working in close collaboration with directors, stage management, technical staff, and fellow designers.What you'll do:Develop and communicate design concepts for assigned productions or eventsCollaborate with directors, production staff, and other designers to support the artistic goals of each projectCreate and share design materials, paperwork, research, renderings, plots, lists, cueing information, or other discipline-specific materials as neededParticipate in production meetings and communicate progress, needs, and revisions in a timely and professional mannerSupport the implementation of design work within the production's budget, schedule, venue limitations, and technical needsAttend rehearsals, load-in, technical rehearsals, and other production calls as needed based on the roleMake design adjustments as needed during the production process to support storytelling, functionality, and production successWe're looking for someone who:Has experience in a theatrical or live performance design disciplineBrings strong artistic judgment, collaboration skills, and attention to detailCan communicate ideas clearly and professionallyUnderstands how to balance creative vision with practical production realitiesWorks well in a deadline-driven, collaborative environmentIs available for meetings, design work sessions, technical rehearsals, and other calls as required by the production scheduleAt New Village Arts, design is a vital part of how we tell stories and create adventurous artistic experiences.
