Job description

Department: Business Services, Events & Catering, Central Park Zoo
Title: Event Assistant
Employment Type: Seasonal
Status: Non-Exempt
Grade Level: Hourly
Pay Range: $20/hour - $25/hour
Reports To: Sales and Venue Operations Manager, Events & Catering
Position Description: Ideal candidate must be highly driven, maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment. The Event Assistant is responsible for assisting the Sales and Venue Operations Manager with but, not limited to, vendor load in/out, managing vendors on-site, receiving deliveries, and upholding rules of the park. The Event Assistants top priority will be to ensure a successful event that upholds WCS standards while adhering to WCS policies and procedures. 
Schedule: The work schedule for this temporary position based out of the Central Park Zoo from approximately May - November. Position requires flexible availability to work non-standard hours including morning, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Hours are based on events schedule. 
Position Responsibilities and Specifications:
    Ensure high level of service while maintaining a professional and personable demeanor with clients and vendors. 
    Communicate effectively across departments.
    Oversee vendor delivery, load in, set up, while enforcing park rules for guest experience and safety.
    Oversee vendor load out, enforcing established breakdown procedures.
    Assist and give direction to supplemental staff.
    Monitor vendors during course of day to enforce and maintain fire safety.
    Assist receiving, stocking and keeping inventory of on-site product.
    Conducting site visits on behalf of Sales and Venue Operations Manager.
    Assist with Fire Marshall and Department of Buildings inspection.
    Follow all WCS safety and security policies and procedures. 
    Perform other related duties assigned by Sales Manager.
