Job description

Family Literacy & Digital Empowerment Program Assistant

The Family Literacy & Digital Empowerment Program Assistant will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of the SXU Family Literacy & Digital Empowerment Academy. This student leader will serve as both an Instructional Aide and Administrative Assistant, helping to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for families participating in workshops focused on digital literacy, computer skills, financial literacy, educational navigation, career readiness, and other family learning topics. This position offers valuable experience in program coordination, community engagement, event planning, customer service, teaching support, and educational outreach

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Workshop & Instructional Support

  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of family literacy and digital empowerment workshops.
  • Serve as an instructional aide during workshops by helping participants navigate technology, complete activities, and troubleshoot basic computer issues.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to participants as needed.
  • Demonstrate patience, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse families and community members.
  • Support workshop facilitators during presentations and hands-on activities.

Program Assistance

  • Prepare workshop materials, handouts, sign-in sheets, evaluations, and participant packets.
  • Assist with workshop registration and participant communications.
  • Maintain attendance records and participation data.
  • Help organize digital files, program documents, and resource materials.
  • Support data collection and reporting efforts related to program outcomes.
  • Assist with inventory management of program supplies and technology resources.

Event Logistics

  • Set up and break down workshop spaces, including computer labs, meeting rooms, and resource tables.
  • Ensure technology and presentation equipment are ready prior to workshops.
  • Welcome participants and provide customer service during events.
  • Assist with refreshments, room arrangements, and event flow as needed.

Outreach & Marketing

  • Assist with promoting workshops through flyers, social media, email communications, and campus announcements.
  • Support the development of participant recruitment materials.
  • Help capture photos and testimonials (with appropriate permissions) for program promotion and reporting purposes.
Qualifications

MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY

Must be Federal Work Study Eligible

Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable using computers and common technology applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
